Xfinity dns problems
This basically means that whether you have Comcast or DSL, you will automatically get these “DNS” addresses. As a result, you essentially get whatever numbers Comcast gives you. For eg, a comcast user’s DNS address will usually be 10.1.10.1 or something similar.
If you want to revert to your previous settings, simply return to Step 6 and change the radial number to “Obtain DNS Server Address Automatically,” and you’ll be right back where you started.
According to the Anti-Phishing Working Group, the attacks have increased in recent months as Internet users become more aware of conventional phishing scams and online criminal groups seek new ways to obtain personal information or financial data from victims.

A rogue DNS server pretended to be the authoritative DNS server for the entire.com Web domain in March. Other DNS servers that had been infected with this false information forwarded all.com requests to the rogue server, which responded to all.com requests with one of the attackers’ two IP addresses. According to log data collected from compromised Web servers used in the attacks, an earlier attack in March targeted vulnerable goods from Symantec and other companies to redirect requests from more than 900 specific Internet addresses and more than 75,000 e-mail messages. A rash of such attacks in recent days prompted the Internet Storm Center to issue a code “Yellow” warning, indicating increased Internet threats, and Microsoft to issue revised guidelines for configuring Windows machines used as DNS servers to avoid cache poisoning.

Fix dns probe finished no internet [tutorial]
Comcast has recently begun tampering with my DNS traffic, and not in the sloppy Comcastic way. DNS redirection was once common procedure on the Comcast network, and Spiceheads are likely to be familiar with it. They cleverly dubbed the service “Domain Helper.” Invalid DNS queries were answered by a server hosting a branded search page. Allow me to be precise. This is not the same concern as before. This is, in my opinion, much more insidious.
‘It appears that your router or ISP is intercepting and redirecting all outgoing DNS requests.’ This means you won’t be able to benchmark or use different DNS servers. Please change your router settings or contact your ISP for assistance.’
With nslookup and dig, I tried a few direct IP requests to random non-existent DNS servers. Every IP address was right. I went straight to the router’s configuration to see if it was something I’d done. Nothing. There are no port forwarding or bypasses set up. To be sure, I linked my laptop directly to the gateway modem. The same thing happened.
