I’ve been having a lot of apparent scam contacts, but I’m not sure what I’m getting out of it. They still have names, topics, and messages that are made up of single words. The email addresses appear to be authentic. They’ve most certainly stolen them to use as spam. They’ve been added to my subscription list, which means they’ll receive messages from me if they have a valid email address. I’ve included a screenshot so you can see what I’m talking about.
