White County High School is a public high school in Cleveland, Georgia, that serves students in grades 9 through 12 and is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools has granted it accreditation.
Navy blue and white are the school’s standard colors. To honor the old Nacoochee High School, which merged with White County High School in the late 1950s, gold trim was applied to uniforms in the early 1990s. Many uniforms and other spirit gear have been made of silver in recent years.
The school first opened its doors in 1959, but it has since relocated to Highway 129, about five miles north of the original site. The 23 area community schools were merged into four districts in the 1950s. Students matriculated to either Cleveland High School or Nacoochee High School after finishing eighth grade in most city schools. In 1959, Cleveland High School and Nacoochee High School merged to form White County High School. The old Nacoochee gym and school are still standing, with the school serving as a museum.
