Distracted driving is a serious issue, especially among teen drivers. Although some people may want to respond to a text or look something up while driving, even a split second of inattention can be dangerous. Toyota hosts the TeenDrive 365 Video Challenge every year, a competition for teenagers to create PSAs about the risks of distracted driving. Let’s take a look at the 2018 Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge winners.

Among these well-known causes and remedies, the number of injuries caused by distracted driving has not decreased. Toyota Motor Company has collaborated with parents, educators, and teen drivers in an attempt to minimize these statistics. The key focus is education, both for the driver and for the parent, as well as a pledge from both parties to work together to improve safety. The website, http://www.teendrive365inschool.com/, focuses on how parents can better educate their teenagers, how teens can be better students to their driving instructors, and how educators can develop more interactive and meaningful lesson plans for teaching new drivers. Toyota is also offering a $15,000 prize for the production and submission of a self-produced public service announcement (PSA) on the subject of distracted driving. There’s a lot of good stuff on the web, and all of you creative types have a chance to win a cool prize while doing something useful. Nv Drivers Ed is not affiliated with Toyota and receives no compensation from them. We just think this is interesting enough to share with you.

Another example: teens learn the majority of their driving habits from their parents, both good and poor. That’s why Toyota produced TeenDrive365, a series of tools aimed at assisting parents in guiding their teen drivers through their first year behind the wheel and preparing them for a lifetime of safe driving.
TennDrive365 is here to help you continue the safety discussion with your teen, from online apps and safe driving tips to the Joint Driving Agreement and unique teen driver activities taking place around the world.
The discussion started over a decade ago for Toyota. Since then, we’ve been working to find innovative ways to keep new drivers safe, including behind-the-wheel driving lessons, immersive driving education experiences for teenagers and parents, research collaborations with leading organizations, and more. Since we agree that protection includes more than just vehicles.

Teendrive365 video challenge: “teen driving”

When you first pass your driver’s test, you’re typically devoted to driving safely and being a successful driver. However, bad habits are easy to pick up, particularly when you see your peers doing things like texting while driving. According to DoSomething.org, 16-year-olds have the highest crash rates among any age group of drivers, with motor vehicle crashes accounting for 33% of deaths among 13- to 19-year-olds in 2010. These numbers are disturbing, and they stress the importance of teaching teens how to drive safely.
Toyota has collaborated with Discovery Education to introduce the Toyota TeenDrive365 Video Challenge for the past five years. Teens are encouraged to make short videos each year to enable their peers to drive more safely. Ten finalists have been selected for 2016, with other winners to be announced later this month.
The videos of the ten finalists are currently on display online, and viewers are encouraged to vote for their pick. The People’s Choice Award winner will earn $5,000 and a behind-the-scenes trip to a Velocity network show taping. In addition to the People’s Choice award, a jury of judges will select a variety of other prize winners. The first-place winner will earn $15,000 and will have the opportunity to reshoot their video with a Discovery film crew for use as a PSA that will air on various Discovery networks.
