Please be aware that when you connect to an FTP server, your username and password are sent in plain text, which means that other users on your network could sniff these private user information using a network sniffing tool. A secure FTP with encryption feature is a better choice. If not, update the FTP password on a regular basis to reduce the chance.
Using a Web or File Browser to Connect to an FTP Server 1) This is the simplest method of connecting to an FTP server! To link to an FTP server, simply open your preferred web browser or file explorer, then type the FTP server IP or domain name in the format ftp:/[FTP-server-IP-or-domain-name] and press Enter.
Connect to FTP Server via Command Prompt 1) The command prompt (cmd.exe) in Windows OS is another way to connect to FTP server. Open a command prompt and type ftp [FTP-server-IP-or-domain-name] before pressing the Enter key.

On the NAS, ideally, there will be a mini-website. Each customer will be assigned a user account by company employees. Then all they have to do is copy the files into the appropriate folder and make them available to the customer. Customers may use the internet to download and upload files. The company’s employees discovered the uploaded files in a folder named after the customer’s name.
If you don’t want to use FTP at all, there’s a native Synology web interface to their file sharing service (described here on page 61), or if the company has its own web server with PHP enabled, http://owncloud.org/ may be worth looking into.

To reduce the risk of data loss, data in Synology NAS devices may be backed up to various destinations, including an on-premises network sharing, an FTP/SFTP server, and public cloud storage, sequentially or simultaneously.
Only modified blocks inside a file are backed up each time with our In-File Delta speed acceleration technology. These blocks will be combined with previous backups during restoration to create a new complete backup for fast recovery.
Your Synology NAS user can recover a file from any point in time when it was backed up with our solution. If necessary, the user can also restore several versions of a file in a single restore process.

FileZilla is a free, cross-platform FTP program that consists of two components: FileZilla Client and FileZilla Server. Server binaries are only available for Windows, but client binaries are available for Windows, Linux, and macOS. FTP and FTPS (FTP over SSL/TLS) are supported by both the server and the client, and the client can also bind to SFTP servers.
The source code for FileZilla is available on SourceForge, and the project was named Project of the Month in November 2003.
[three] SourceForge, on the other hand, has been accused of bundling malicious software with the program. [number four]
They debated which license they should release the code under before they started writing it.
[6] They chose to make FileZilla an open-source project[clarification needed] because there were already a lot of FTP clients out there, and they didn’t think they’d sell a single copy if they made it commercial[clarification needed].
[number six]
Chris Foresman reviewed FTP clients for Ars Technica in May 2008, saying of FileZilla: “Some of my tech support friends often suggest FileZilla, a free and open-source file manager that works on Mac OS X as well as Windows and Linux. However, I’ve never been a fan of its cluttered gui, which can be intimidating to newcomers.” [nine]
