Set up nordvpn on ubee router via l2tp/pptp protocol
I’m not familiar with Charter Spectrum; does the Z3 link to an ISP router? Is there a firmware update for it if that’s the case? I’ve had issues with ISP routers not properly NATing UDP traffic on occasion. Making stupid decisions, such as timing out UDP translations after 5 seconds.
Charter Spectrum is a major cable network in the United States.
The Z3 connects to the ISP router, which assigns a private IP address in the 192.168.20.0/24 range, which it then NATs. I’m not sure if there’s a way to get an update. This user is about an 8-hour drive from me, so I’m working on arranging a visit while I have a few other places to see during the same journey. It would most likely take two weeks. I’m hoping that someone has dealt with this before and has a solution for me before then. I just have a feeling that when I arrive on site and call Charter, the person I speak with will have no idea what I’m talking about and will either tell me it’s a problem with my equipment and end the call there (since we can access the Internet) or, if they do escalate, it will be a week before they call back.

They also prevent your ISP from spying on your web traffic. However, you have to wonder if ISPs will block VPN connections if they so wish. Assuming they have an issue with you using a VPN to begin with.
Don’t get us wrong: it would be great if they couldn’t. However, there is nothing preventing them from doing so. Note that your ISP will always see the VPN server as the endpoint of your VPN connection. It will look something like this on their end:
When they search the destination of your link, they usually see an IP address and a DNS resolution (a website name). They’ll probably think it’s a VPN server if they just see an IP address – particularly if your traffic is encrypted.
Aside from that, they may actually use an IP lookup tool (such as WhatIsMyIPAddress) to decide who owns the IP address. It’s pretty clear they’re dealing with a VPN server if they see a data center instead of a suburban ISP.
Since the encryption of OpenVPN has a distinct signature that DPI can detect. If your ISP uses a packet sniffer like Wireshark, they may notice OpenVPN instead of TCP or UDP as the protocol for your link.
Ca spectrum: monitor dmvpn network
Hello, I have a home user who connects to the office via VPN from her Windows 7 computer. The VPN is set up using L2TP and runs via the Checkpoint firewall. What I’ve found lately is that a small number of spectrum internet for residential users (3 users so far) have trouble connecting to the VPN at times. This started about a month ago and is just happening now and then. I have the user test through their phone hotspot each time this occurs, and it connects great, but it won’t connect when they return to their Spectrum home wifi. It will run well on the Spectrum home network a day later. Anyone else has problems like this?
