Isn’t it also useful for teachers to know the students truly comprehended the lesson? SMART Response Interactive Response Systems is a product offered by SMART. SMART Response enables educators to gather data and student input on tests for student performance and comprehension in real time, enabling teachers to further assist students in their learning. Via the interactive SMART Response remotes, SMART Response encourages student interaction. Incorporating SMART Response into the classroom will inspire students to retain knowledge so they would expect to be tested and kept responsible for their learning right away.
The majority of Response Systems provide evaluation software that allows teachers to develop evaluations, monitor and analyze assessment outcomes, and even display visual representations of results, such as graphs. Teachers can capture and evaluate individual student answers to a range of questions using the Teacher Tools program. The questions can be viewed on a SMARTBoard or printed using SMART Notebook as a hardcopy. There are currently a number of systems available, each with its own set of capabilities.
These answer units can be used in the classroom in two separate ways. The students use the remotes anonymously in the first process. This approach is quicker, and it displays the number of students who chose each answer. Students may also enter their ID numbers in the second method. The student will then be greeted by name by the response unit. This approach would take longer because each student will need to input their ID number, but the program will rate each student’s responses and save the results so that progress can be seen between tests.
This can also be used in the classroom for formative and summative evaluation. Each question can be answered and then the response shown to the community while working with the students in a formative evaluation environment. This will lead to a debate about whether the chosen answer is right or why people may have chosen a different choice. Students may enter answers to all of the assessment’s questions during a summative assessment. Both students’ answers will be marked on their individual receivers until the instructor completes the evaluation on their computer. They will then go over their responses and see how they did overall.
