Tbird is running Win7Ultimate on his machine. Tbird often fails to copy messages sent to the “sent” or “drafts” folder. The green progress bar progresses to 100% and then stops. I left it overnight the last time, and there were no copies in the “received” folder.

Check the account’s settings (Tools > Account Settings > Copies & Folders). Select Other, then point to the affected account’s Sent folder by checking the Place a copy in box. In the Drafts & Templates section, do the same thing. You should check the box at the bottom to obtain a confirmation message any time a draft is saved.

How to change the default draft settings in outlook 2013

One of the most popular complaints about Mail is that it seems to accumulate messages in its Drafts mailbox. Although this is not a bothersome problem that can easily be resolved by removing the messages in this mailbox, some users have discovered that their drafts are saved continuously and indefinitely every time they write new messages.
When you start writing a message in Mail, a local draft folder is created on your computer, where these messages are automatically saved. If you don’t save them right away, they’ll remain there until the message is sent or deleted without being saved. If you save them on purpose, they will be deleted either when they are submitted or if you erase them manually.
If you use IMAP e-mail accounts, Mail can automatically allow the option to save a copy of these draft messages in the IMAP server’s drafts folder. Any changes you make to the local drafts folder will be synchronized with the server, allowing you to access your drafts from other e-mail clients like Webmail, another computer, or a mobile device.

Quick tip: how to save & find email drafts on ios devices

Make sure the list you’re sending to is made up of SMTP ([email protected]) email addresses rather than Exchange (EXCHSVR/name) addresses. Make sure the list’s name is [+] Listname, and when it’s in the To: field, click the [+] to see the list’s members. If there are any non-smtp addresses in the email, they must be deleted or edited before it can be submitted. If the name of the list is not underlined, it has not been validated.
Option 1: If you’re sending from a different email address (e.g., [email protected]) instead of your personal one, that address may not have enough permissions to write to your personal Outlook files. You’ll need permission from an Administrator on your account to send from other inboxes. To learn more, read this post.

Microsoft Exchange 2016 is now installed. When anyone attempts to send an email, it is automatically Forwarded to the recipient; however, the email first appears in the DRAFTS folder for 30 seconds before moving to the SENT ITEMS folder. One thing to keep in mind is that when I send a test email, I get it in 3 seconds, but it still goes to drafts for 30 seconds before being submitted.
Things going to drafts are typically triggered by the server’s DNS being wrong (having both internal and external addresses) or being set to ‘both adapters’ in the ECP under server – you can physically connect it to a NIC.

I’ve modified the DNS settings as you suggested and disabled any IPv6 options.
The IP address of my DNS server is 192.168.1.100, and the IP address of my Exchange server is 192.168.1.210.
Please see the attachments for server and nic end snapshots. After applying the suggested settings, the emails no longer send and are trapped in drafts.
