How to enable remote access on plex media server

Each hardware manufacturer implements UPnP in a unique way. It can make things simpler, but the UPnP process can be troublesome in the long run. It’s always best for me to set up a manual port forward and a static IP address on the machine so that the tunnel remains open and consistent.
I just spent an entire day trying to solve the same problem. It had been working fine for a year through upnp, but I had to manually set it through port open/forwarding. Plus.net was accused of handling traffic and blocking ports, but this was not the case. As a result, I’m open to feedback.

Why did plex stop working?

Look in the settings of plex on the NAS to see what the port is; it should be mentioned there. It should also be on your browser’s list. Make sure plex is correctly logged into plex pass on the nas. Ensure that the port is correctly forwarded in the home center.
RAID may be used in conjunction with external backups. While the disk is being replaced and the RAID repaired, RAID will keep your machine running and your data available. Backups can help you restore data that has been lost, damaged, or corrupted due to device failure. The one does not take the place of the other.
I have both TCP and UDP forwarded on my port forward; I’m not sure which one plex uses. It’s possible that plex isn’t linked to the internet at all in your screenshot of the plex tab. Is your NAS internet-connected, in the sense that you can go to the app store and download new apps? BT’s DHCP defaults use several unusual IP address ranges. Are you certain your IP address belongs in the right range? Your screenshot shows 192.168.1.66, but BT’s gateway defaults start at 192.168.1.100 and go all the way up to 192.168.1.254. You may need to update your NAS IP address, or you may have manually limited your smart hub’s range. Finally, it appears that there is an additional phase after port forwarding on the smart hub. Return to the port forwarding tab, pick the plex forward you typed in, and then hit add and submit. Thank you for elaborating. I’ll look at bridging the modem because I want the orbi setup to take care of all modem functions. Hopefully, I’ll be able to have some feedback on that later today.

How to remote access plex media server with port

Older routers may have UPnP support, which may or may not function with new applications. If you can’t get the router to automatically configure the port-forward, contact the manufacturer or look on other forums for assistance. It’s possible that the problem can be resolved by updating the firmware.
