An optical reader is a device used in most computer scanners that collects visual information and converts it to digital information that the computer can understand and view.
Marksense devices for elections are an example of optical readers, in which electors mark their preference by filling in a rectangle, circle, or oval, or by completing an arrow. Following the voting, the votes are read by a tabulating system using “dark mark logic,” in which the machine selects the darkest mark within a range as the intended option or vote.

By far the best OCR scanning app I’ve ever used (and I’ve tried a lot of them). The effort to standardize subscriptions for mobile apps is my main concern. The iOS ecosystem is far too diverse and abundant to justify such a pricing model. I also don’t schedule my software use by time intervals. It would be more appealing to me if you offered a one-time purchase option. Since I don’t use this sort of app on a daily basis, I’m just going to use it for a month and then canceling my subscription.
I haven’t used any other OCR on my phone, so I can’t equate it to others, but what I’ve seen so far isn’t great. While there was an unusual switching out of a phrase from its original location to another, and one mistake, it appears to get most words right (not present in original). It also lacks fractions, which is awkward when reading a recipe. The interstitial advertisements that appear while switching from one screen to the next are extremely irritating. As a result, I’m getting rid of it from my computer. The more subdued placement at the bottom of the home screen is perfect with me; it doesn’t annoy me as much.
