Poetry on tv: john milton in the untouchables, ‘the st. louis

The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) held its annual conference in downtown St. Louis from April 11 to 14. Tim Malecek, Justin Orlando, Brandon McLaughlin, Jason Getz, Fr. Linus, Derek Ward, and Stacey Neal were among the Priory faculty members who attended the conference, where they learned about inquiry-based learning, data literacy, engineering in the classroom, cross-curricular activities (within a grade, between grades, and between schools), and how to engage students in debating science.
Mrs. Neal, Jennifer Martin of Chesterfield Day School, and Nicole Cooper of Visitation Academy were all presenters at the meeting. Their talk, titled “Collaboration Is the Key!” provided insight into the methods and means required to establish collaborations across disciplines within a grade level, across class years, and eventually between institutions. Math and science were initially the subject, but collaborations with art, industry, language, sociology, and technology soon followed.

The hands-on workshops were well-received by the audience. Several teachers who attended the first sessions made it a point to attend subsequent ones, stating that they learned a lot and had a good time! We also had the opportunity to chat with over 500 teachers who stopped by our booth about the curriculum and other tools available on our website.
At NSTA, the film Food Evolution was screened, which examines the role of GMOs in feeding a growing population. We have a free discussion guide and poster of GMO modifications on our site if you need a fast way to catch any thoughts about GMOs.
