The 70th annual All-Star Game will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, on March 7 to give fans a chance to see the league’s best players compete on the same court, in one of the few instances of normalcy the NBA has hoped to sustain during the pandemic-stricken 2020-21 season.
Despite some doubts from high-profile players due to health issues, the NBA is moving forward with the event full-steam ahead. The league intends to build a “mini-bubble” in which players and coaches can quarantine themselves while undergoing “enhanced PCR testing.” Fans will not be allowed to attend any of the All-Star events.
The NBA’s tribute to the late Kobe Bryant will continue with modified rules, such as the game clock being turned off in the fourth quarter to produce a more competitive finish, similar to the one achieved in 2020. LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers and Kevin Durant of the Brooklyn Nets will act as captains, drafting their respective teams without regard for conference lines.
In addition to celebrating HBCUs during the event, the NBA has pledged over $2.5 million in donations and services to Historically Black Colleges and Universities as part of its broader campaign to combat racial inequity across the United States.

1996 nba all-star saturday night | full broadcast

The NBA agreed to host all of its major All-Star competitions — the dunk contest, 3-point contest, Skills Challenge, and, of course, the game — in one night due to the coronavirus pandemic. In a typical year, the All-Star festivities begin on Friday and conclude on Sunday with the big game.
LeBron James had a good All-Star draft earlier this week and was arguably the favorite heading into tonight’s game, but things went south for him and Kevin Durant earlier today.
Team Durant was expected to start Embiid at center, while Team LeBron expected Simmons to be a key backup. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Zion Williamson will resume in place of Embiid. Unless there are some last-minute changes, here is how both teams’ starting lineups will look tonight:
Anthony Davis was expected to play in his eighth All-Star game, but a calf strain and Achilles tendinosis will keep him out. Devin Booker, his successor, will also be inactive. Mike Conley will fill in for them.
