I WANT TO LEAVE THIS INFORMATION ON THE FORUM BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH THERE IS A LOT OF MEANINGLESS CONVERSATION, THERE IS SOME VIABLE INFORMATION THROUGHOUT It has come to our attention that some of you are attempting to read information from extraverts – THIS WILL NEVER WORK – Please take note of the phone we use for all of our activations, and if you have any questions about how to set up your accounts with the fascinate, look up the answer on the internet.
We’ve been running a Generic Firmware on all of our Verizon 2200s for the past week and have found that the kickoff rate among MODERATE data users is almost non-existent. All MIFIs that have been kicked off and then flashed back on appear to come off within 24 – 48 hours, according to our findings. We assume that the device’s meids are being registered. Once you’ve figured out how to get around it, we’ve debranded them so Verizon won’t recognize them as Verizon mifis. We wanted to know why the vast majority of our kickoffs were Verizon devices rather than Sprint devices, so we came up with this concept.

Many common MiFi devices that are used as 4G hotspots are hackable. Command injection and remote code execution vulnerabilities were discovered in common 4G hotspots and MiFi routers made by ZTE, Netgear, TP-Link, and Huawei, according to a DEFCON 27 talk by Pen Test Partners. The Netgear Nighthawk M1, the ZTE MF910 and MF920, as well as the TP-Link M7350, are all affected. The full list of CVEs, as well as more detail from the security researchers who cracked these devices, can be found in a blog post by Pen Test Partners titled “Reverse Engineering 4G Hotspots for Fun, Bugs, and Net Financial Loss.”
These vulnerabilities were found and reported to the affected companies earlier this year, and the security researchers may have more to release in the future. Although some of the compromised MiFi devices have been patched, others have not, and this is where the broader security problem with MiFi hotspot devices begins. In his DEFCON talk overview, G Richter of Pen Test Partners, a pseudonymous security researcher, articulated the long-term risk of these 4G hotspot vulnerabilities:
Installing phoenix os as a main os on uefi systems (rip
The device will restart on its own. The device has been reset and is ready to use once the power light stops blinking. The router will not be reset to an earlier firmware update, but all settings will be reset to factory defaults.
Rename the Default Wifi Name on your Verizon MiFi-2200 (SSID). Default network names are used in some Verizon routers (with the name of the manufacturer). We suggest using a different name since the default name identifies the make of your router unnecessarily, making it easier for hackers to break in.
A hacker can easily figure out the default password for your Verizon MiFi-2200 router from the manufacturer and use it to gain access to your wireless network. As a result, it’s a good idea to update the Verizon MiFi-2200 router’s administrator password. When selecting a new password, strive to use a complex combination of numbers and letters, and avoid using a password that can be easily guessed.
You can use MAC filtering to restrict access to your Verizon MiFi-2200 router. To use this function, enter the 12-character MAC ID of each device that will connect to your network into your Verizon MiFi-2200 router. If you add or delete devices, make sure to update this information.

If you’re a Comcast customer interested in their High-Speed 2go service, there’s some good news. Comcast recently announced an img src=”http://www.crunchgear.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/hacktheplanet.PNG” /> campaign to hack the world. With a 1-1 record and one no-contest (an unintended headbutt in the first round), Team CrunchGear used one or more Mi.
