Linux mint internet not working

Problem wifi resolved on linux mint 19

But I reinstalled my old Windows 8.1 OS on an old machine in order to resell it to a family member. I chose Linux Mint because it seemed to be the most user-friendly for those who are technologically illiterate (and because of it being lightweight and gave me my first experiences with Linux). I downloaded version 18.1. All of the details I found pointed to a plug-and-play NIC. Although the “ifconfig” command returns an IP address, I am unable to ping my default gateway or access the internet. What are my options for getting a link to start an update and hopefully repair the whole thing now that it can’t update via connectivity?
This is an intriguing case.
The kernel notices this as you plug in and unplug (via the ip addr show or ip link show commands).
There is a reset function in the network manager (where you can set the IP address) on the bottom menu selection. I’m not sure if this will help, but you might try resetting the ethernet port. Make sure the link automatically check box is activated for all users on the identity page. Mint 18.1 runs flawlessly on my Dell E5430.

How to fix linux mint 19 not connecting to wifi or internet

When I use the phone, the Internet connection is interrupted after a while. I’m linked to the router and have a strong signal, but I can’t access the internet. I regained Internet access after reconnecting to the router. This offer is only available for a limited time. I have to reconnect with the router every 10 minutes, 30 minutes, or even hours. I go to Wireless Connection – Network Settings, choose my wifi network, and reconnect; the internet is back up and running. This issue began a few weeks ago, and because there is a simple solution, it hasn’t bothered me…until now. Now things are starting to irritate me a little.

Linux mint internet connection fix

Hi there,

Problem wifi resolved on linux mint 19.1

On my laptop, I have Linux Mint 18.2 Cinnamon installed alongside macOS and Windows, and the internet connection was down the other day when I booted up to my Linux partition. My university’s network has a wired ethernet link that still works fine on Windows, and the network used to work fine. I’m not sure if it’s because I revised something or because something else has changed, but the network no longer functions. The ethernet link appears to be active, but it does not function when I try to load a website or access something that needs an internet connection. I booted straight into Linux the day after it started working, and the internet connection was working, but then it simply stopped. I read somewhere that Wake-On-Lan on Windows may trigger this issue when rebooting into Linux, but I’ve disabled Wake-On-Lan in both Windows and my BIOS, and the problem still exists. I can’t ping any website or 8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8.8 Any assistance in further diagnosing and potentially resolving this problem will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much! 3 answers 100 percent upvoted by sharesavehidereport This discussion has been ended. There are no new comments or votes that can be made. Sort by the strongest.

There are no such things as “innocent” inquiries. If, on the other hand, you believe your question is a little silly, this is the place to ask it. Ulyana has been mounted. It’s working well, but the internet is having issues. Even though it shows that it is connected to WiFi, the laptop loses communication. I have to disconnect it and reconnect it, which takes about an hour and repeats the process. I don’t have the same issue when I use Windows on the same laptop or connect other devices to the same internet connection.
I’m not sure what to blame for this problem right now, but the internet link was dropping out entirely in general, so the internet service provider replaced the modem. In the meantime, I changed the operating system, and the internet seems to be working properly on this machine.
