Tomato is a collection of community-developed custom firmware for Broadcom chipset-based consumer networking routers and gateways. The project’s aim is to provide users with an alternative to the factory-installed firmware on their equipment, allowing them to:
Jonathan Zarate first published Tomato in 2006, based on the Linux kernel and heavily influenced by the HyperWRT code. It was designed to attack a variety of common routers at the time, including the Linksys WRT54G series, Buffalo AirStation, Asus routers, and Netgear WNR3500L. [two] His final release of the original Tomato firmware was in June 2010, by which time the firmware’s popularity had risen to the point that it could be developed and supported by the user community, resulting in a series of releases (dubbed “mods”) by individual users or groups of users that has continued to the present day.
Fedor Kozhevnikov developed TomatoUSB, a notable early mod that was discontinued in November 2010.
[three] It was then forked by other developers[4], and it is still the closest shared ancestor to all forks with recent operation. Tomato was selected by Asus as the basis for ASUSWRT, the firmware that is preinstalled on their entire line of home routers. This is arguably the project’s most important recognition to date. It appears that you are performing the task incorrectly. Both devices must be set to AP+WDS. Follow these simple instructions: http://blog.tersmitten.nl/using-tomato-to-create-a-secure-wds-network-with-multiple-3-wrt54gl-routers.html There is no such thing as a WDS-specific router or computer. It should, by definition, operate on all devices, and it does. At my house, I have three different brands of devices in WDS mode, and the E3200, which is one of them, works fine.
Sure, as soon as I get to my destination, I’ll send screenshots here, but that won’t be essential. In the meantime, see http://blog.tersmitten.nl/using-tomato-to-create-a-secure-wds-network-with-multiple-3-wrt54gl-routers.html for more details. It includes an example as well as screenshots.

Some believe that everyone should have the ability to monitor the software that runs on their computers and, if possible, make improvements for the better. Additional functions include bandwidth allocation, bandwidth quotas, parental control, boosting wireless wifi signals, enabling password internet access, and more with this third-party firmware. Setup a second linksys router to work with the first – basic

The E3200 is supported by DD-WRT; it works, but it appears to be buggy. Broadcom and Cisco have refused to issue a driver for the 5GHz radio band (the buggers!). I have it up and running, but I just use it as a secondary access point in my home. I was using it as my primary router, but the WAN is strange; any time the router is switched on from a ‘cold’ boot, I have to reboot my router and cable modem. There are no issues with a quick router reboot. At the moment, it’s working well for getting a decent signal out into my garage and back yard ;)!
I recently discovered Tomato for my WRT-610N, and it is now my main router, replacing DD-WRT. Toastman’s builds are fantastic, particularly the working qos and bw limiter. The bandwidth graphs are fantastic, and it is extremely fast! After switching from stock firmware to DD-WRT, I thought it was easy, but DANG! 😀
Is it possible to adapt Tomato for the E3200? I’m seeing a lot of interest for the 2000/3000/4200… I don’t care if I’m still missing the 5GHZ band at this stage. I’m sticking with DD-WRT/Tomato on this router because of the faster, more robust G-Band!
