On my Linksys E2500 V1, I recently installed this firmware (http://tomato.groov.pl/download/K26…E2500-NVRAM60K-1.28.RT-N5x-MIPSR2-124-Max.bin). I did a 30/30/30 reset and reconfigured it after it finished installing Tomato (it was previously running the official Linksys formware, version 1.0.7). Both bands (2.4 and 5GHz) of the router work well, but the firmware is extremely unstable. On my laptop connected via wireles, I attempted to download a very famous torrent (many sources), but the router kept restarting. When I returned home today, I noticed that the router had recently restarted. Is this typical? Is there a problem with this router’s support? I’ve never had this problem with Linksys’ official firmware, but I really like Tomato’s advanced features. If you need any logs, please let me know how to obtain them and I will give them to you.
The BCM5358U chipset has a significant lack of documentation, and what I did find was contradictory. The BCM5358 CPU/32Meg RAM w/8Meg flash ran at a maximum clock speed of 500MHz, according to two sources. Then I found two more sources that said it ran at 300MHz and had 64Meg RAM with 8Meg light. That’s it, folks! That isn’t a slight inconsistency. Then I notice some places/sites claiming that the E2500v1 & v2 can be flashed directly to Tomato, while others say that you must flash in three consecutive flashes to get Tomato on either, and that the v3 is not supported – YET? (Then I read somewhere that it can be done on the v3 with a two-flashing sequence – one to turn on Tomato and then another to get it to where you want it.) I’m afraid I’m unable to help you with this. I gave up on the idea of buying one and simply ruled it out because I won’t try it until someone has already done so and reported back to us that it is fine. I can confirm that I am using E2000s that have been flashed with tomato-E2000-NVRAM60K-1.28.7506.3MIPSR2Toastman-RT-Std.bin and are performing admirably. I’m not sure if that benefits you. If I had the same amount of money as you, I would probably try something like:

As mentioned in the title. For around 5-20 seconds, the whole network — both 2.4 and 5GHz bands — would go dark. In bridge mode, I have the router connected to an Xfinity modem. I tried changing the channel (currently channel 11 for 2.4GHz and channel 56 for 5GHz) and MTU settings, but neither worked. All else is mostly set as default. I also found that when trying to find the right MTU setting, any sum over 96 bytes causes the ping test to fail, so I left it at 1500 for now. Is there someone who might point me in the right direction? Is it possible to upgrade a router that already runs DD-WRT to the new version of Tomato? I had to first upload a micro version of DD-WRT to my WRT54GL v1.1 using the default Linksys firmware. I assume I won’t have to do that again now that I’m running third-party firmware, but I wanted to double-check to make sure I didn’t brick it.
Although a new AirPort Extreme will take its place (for the ‘n’ capability), I still want the soon-to-be-Tomato system to sit between the AirPort Extreme and my modem for better traffic graphing.
