With so many champions open, I believe the number of bans should be increased. Every game, I have to choose between Yuumi, Yi/Taric, Kassadin, (and so on) to leave free. There are just too many champions to cover in five bans: you have champions that are too good in the meta, toxic champions (as described above), and god forbid you have to ban one of your hard counters (for example Leona into Morgana) a total of 7 comments Upvoted by sharesavehidereport22% This discussion has been ended. Is there a website or tool that I can use to implement the latest ten-ban scheme for custom games? I’m running a small tournament, and we’d like to be able to implement champion diversity with ten bans, just like the pros. I’m just getting back into League after a 3-4 month break, and from what I’ve found, Riot has no plans to apply the latest ban scheme to custom games or any non-pro format in the near future. 4 responses 50 percentsavehidereportsavehidereportsavehidereportsa Voted up This discussion has been closed. On the Korean server, Jeong “Apdo” Sang-gil is a high-Elo player who can play top, jungle, mid, and AD carry, though he is mainly a mid laner. Although most people consider him to be the world’s second-best mid laner after Faker, some people claim he is the better player overall because he can succeed in four different positions, whereas Faker is known for being a midlaner. In contrast to Faker, he has never participated in an offline tournament.
Apdo initially turned down invitations to join professional teams because he could make more money by Elo-boosting, but he ultimately entered the OGN Winter 2013-2014 Qualifier with a team named (which would eventually rename to Team Dark and be disqualified from the tournament due to unsportsmanlike behavior). However, Apdo continued to Elo-boost, and a girl in his online community, whose account he had previously boosted, reported his operation to Riot; as a result, his main account was blocked for 1,000 years, and he was barred from participating in OGN. 1st For the next two years, he will be barred from participating in tournaments. Bans are an important way for any player to have a say and some leverage over whether or not to play an especially bad matchup or a champion they feel is overpowered. Players sometimes (like right now!) ask if the amount of bans in each game could be increased. When we consider the tradeoffs of raising the number of bans from ten to twenty (two per person), it seems that there will be more overall disadvantages than benefits. Here’s how we’re doing it:
We felt there was strong positive net benefit as we raised the number of bans from six to ten. Champ Select’s complexity decreased, and we reached a sweet spot of “every player gets one ban.” It increased the overall level of player option without putting any classes at risk of being completely banned.
Returning to the original issue, raising the number of bans in League today feels disproportionately negative. However, as with anything, we will continue to evaluate, and our viewpoint will shift in the future.
From a Runeterran point of view, I believe we know very little about what the League of Legends MOBA item could represent. I’m pretty sure there isn’t a factory somewhere churning out hundreds of similar potions and elixirs and selling them all over the known world—and, more importantly, will a teenage human like Ekko respond to the same drink as an immortal god-warrior like Nasus, or a towering petricite statue like Galio?
