The examples that follow are kept simple and presume the use of Font Awesome CDN, which supports auto-accessibility. Please see the manual usability examples and learn more about making your icons more amazing for all users if you are not using the Font Awesome CDN.
With our thoughts on icon usability in mind, if an icon is only for decoration or branding, it doesn’t need to be announced to users as they navigate your site or app. Alternatively, if an icon in your content or interface conveys meaning, make sure that this meaning is also conveyed to assistive technologies through alternative displays or text.

Web icons with no external libraries! (🙅 no more font

This is a long overdue post. It’s been on my to-do list for almost four years, but it’s still fallen into the “not today” category. It’s funny how many times I’ve already introduced it and presented it, but I’ve never taken the time to build a demo repository and a blog to go along with it. So, let’s get started.
Packaging script, stylesheet, and image files are all supported by control add-ins. This will lead you to believe that you are unable to use web fonts. That, however, would be incorrect. It could give you some ideas if you read my blog post about abusing images to load HTML files. Yes, the same method can be used to load web fonts or almost any other external resource.
The web fonts themselves are the first set of files you’ll need to add to your AL project. Make a Fonts subfolder and place all of the *.woff files from the zip file you just downloaded in it. I used fa-regular-400.woff and fa-solid-900.woff in my example.
Font Amazing contains a lot of files, including *.woff2 files, *.ttf files, *.eot files, *.svg files, and so on. In reality, if you use Font Awesome as-is, you’ll need all of those files. The only files you really need are *.woff files, which are Web Open Font Format files. As you can see here: https://caniuse.com/#search=woff, the WOFF format is supported on all related platforms. The only exception is Opera Mini, which does not support any other font format and can therefore be overlooked. In any case, who uses it with BC?

The Open Font License’s (OFL) aims are to promote the worldwide production of collaborative font projects, to support academic and linguistic communities’ font creation efforts, and to provide a free and open environment through which fonts can be shared and developed in collaboration with others.
The OFL permits the use, research, modification, and redistribution of licensed fonts as long as they are not sold separately. The fonts, including derivative works, may be packaged, embedded, redistributed, and/or sold with any program as long as derivative works do not use any reserved names. The fonts and derivatives, on the other hand, cannot be sold under any other license. The fonts’ obligation to remain under this license does not extend to any document produced with the fonts or their derivatives.
Any derivative created by adding to, removing, or substituting—in part or in whole—any of the components of the Original Version, changing formats, or porting the Font Software to a new environment is referred to as a “Modified Version.”
