Samsung galaxy s10 / s10+: how to add a vpn connection
Set up a virtual private network (VPN) on Android devices. This article explains how to set up virtual private networks (VPNs) on Android devices for IT administrators. Some older Android versions do not support all of the features mentioned here. See Search and update your Android version for more details.
Android has a built-in VPN client (PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, and IPSec). VPN apps are also supported on Android 4.0 and later devices. For the following reasons, you would need a VPN app instead of the built-in VPN:
You may use an EMM console to configure several VPNs; make sure your VPN and EMM combination support this. Using an EMM eliminates the need for users to adjust complicated settings on their computers. The following configuration is often supported by EMMs:
When Android boots up, it can start a VPN service and keep it running while the system or work profile is working. Always-on VPN is a feature that is available in Android 7.0 and higher. See Edit Always-on VPN Settings for more detail.
You can block connections that don’t go via the VPN in several EMM consoles (and the Android Settings app). Follow these measures on the computer to push all network traffic into an always-on VPN:

Third-party VPN vendors can incorporate their client applications into Samsung Knox’s Generic VPN System, which allows them to be configured through a standard collection of EMM controls and connections controlled automatically by the framework.
Samsung devices come with a Strongswan-based enhanced built-in VPN client. Administrators can configure a Knox Generic VPN profile for the built-in Strongswan based VPN client using a compatible EMM in the same way they can for Knox Generic VPN Framework compatible third-party VPN clients.
To accomplish this, the Android VPN Management for Knox application must be installed on all end user devices that will have a Knox Generic VPN profile configured by the EMM for the built-in system client.
1. Build a new “Device Management Profile,” select the “Common VPN” Category, and add either a “Android Settings” (for VPN outside Knox Container) or “Knox Settings” (for Knox Workspace Container VPN) profile.
4. Choose “Keep On” (always-on behavior, where the link is automatically created at device startup) or “On Demand” as the connection process (Connection is automatically established only when the associated applications are launched). The Knox VPN Framework manages the link automatically in both cases, allowing application network communication only after the VPN connection has been created.

Great Privacy VPN with IPsec can be used on Android devices without the need for any extra applications or apps. You simply need to allow VPN access in “Settings” and enter your user credentials. WARNING: If you use VPN when connected to WiFi, the VPN connection will be lost until the WiFi connection is lost. It will not reconnect on its own. Always-On VPN is the best choice if you want a constant VPN link.
First, in the appearing window, type a name for the VPN link in the Name field. Select IPsec Xauth PSK as the Type, and in the Server address field, type the DNS name of the desired server. The “Server Details” section of the IPsec page in the download area shows which servers are available for your use. There is also a corresponding Pre-shared Key (PSK) that must be entered at IPsec Pre-shared Key. Tap the Save button to save the VPN setup.
By tapping the newly developed VPN setup, you can now pick and start it (or by creating and using a shortcut). You must enter your Perfect Privacy user data to do so. Enter your user name and password in the User name and Password fields, respectively. Set the checkbox next to Save account details to prevent having to enter it any time you want to connect to a VPN. The Connect button is used to create a VPN connection. A small key symbol in the menu bar represents an active VPN link. By selecting it again and then pressing the Disconnect button, the VPN link can be terminated. You can use our Check IP website to see if your VPN link is up and running.

On Samsung Knox computers, inline software metadata for VPN packets is an exclusive feature. It is allowed by MDM and provides source application background to AnyConnect for the purpose of implementing routing and filtering policies. It is required for the VPN gateway to enforce such per-app VPN filtering policies on Android devices. Policies are specified using wildcarding to target specific application ids or groups of apps, and are compared to the source application id of each outbound packet.
Administrators should be able to enable inline packet metadata in the MDM dashboard. MDM could also hardcode this option to always be enabled for AnyConnect, which will use it according to headend policy.
