Is it really a year already? It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that we announced the winner of the Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship for 2018, but another year has passed. Throughout 2019, we sifted through a long list of highly skilled applicants in order to find a potential entrepreneur.
We’ve partnered with Mission Doable, our company’s CSR program, to run the scholarship this year. Michelle Egger is the recipient of the 2019 Grasshopper Entrepreneur Scholarship, and we’re excited to reveal her!
Egger was granted the award in part because of her good essay. Egger highlighted her work at Resilient Meals in the article, as well as what it means to her to be able to use her entrepreneurial skills in a way that benefits the people around her.
Resilient Foods is a self-described “buy one, offer one” meals business that is inspired by the environment’s sheer resilience in the face of natural disasters such as fires and landslides. Customers who shop with Resilient Meals not only get food, but they also get to select a donation recipient. These recipients then receive a discount on their purchases.

Cancer For College is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing scholarships and financial assistance to those who are in need (mainly due to adverse health conditions). Each award is worth about $5,000. Scholarship winners must remain enrolled full-time at their designated university. Scholarship funds may be lost if you do not maintain full-time attendance or move from a four-year university to a community college. Graduate students who receive scholarships do not need to be enrolled full-time. Scholarship recipients who are forced to leave school due to health problems may request a one-time extension of their scholarship, up to one school year. Recipients who remain longer than this will lose their scholarship, but they will reapply when they are ready to return to school.
