Getting things done torrent
Merlin Mann’s sit-down interview with none other than The David himself is a must-see for devoted followers of the Getting Things Done efficiency scheme (or those of us who strive to be). br />br />br />br />
A quote from the productivity blog 43 Folders: "You might say that the woefully out-of-print is the holy grail of GTD media these days? Are you looking for a way to get things done quickly? DavidCo released a CD set a few years back. It consists of eight (8) audio CDs that cover David’s influential multi-day seminar from a few years ago. "br />"br />"br />"
The famous abbreviation GTD stands for “Getting Things Done,” David Allen’s innovative work-life management system and book that turns personal overwhelm and overload into a stress-free productivity system.
br />br />br />br />
The subtle efficacy of GTD lies in its radically common sense notion that having a full and current inventory of all your obligations, arranged and checked in a structured manner, allows you to concentrate clearly, view your environment from optimum angles, and make trusted decisions on what to do (and not do) at any given time. GTD represents an easy, step-by-step, and highly efficient method for achieving this calm, productive state. It contains the following:br />
Torrents still play an important role in today’s digital environment, even if they aren’t as common as they were in the early 2000s. Torrent-based resources are the only way to get open-source applications, rare films, amateur music, and free books.
Bram Cohen, unhappy with the average download speed online (because it came from a single source), engineered a system that would download from anyone who had the appropriate file, making more common files actually quicker to download.
Torrent files typically download without a hitch. However, you can sometimes encounter issues with torrents not downloading files, torrents not connecting to peers, or torrents not functioning at all. Since the torrent mechanism is so complex, there may be a variety of reasons why torrents aren’t downloading. But let’s take a look at each one individually.
You can notice that your torrents are no longer downloading or that you are unable to link to peers. It’s possible that your download speed would drop to zero. Your torrent client or antivirus program can also generate some specific errors. The steps below will assist you in quickly resolving all of these issues.

My attempt to please everyone by introducing geeky function requests such as “optional torrent downloads” failed. Small groups of geeks love stuff like this, but it overcomplicates the download process overall.
No “geeky” function requests will be introduced in the near future unless resources and manpower are dramatically increased. Contributions for “geeky” features that increase my maintenance time would be denied as well. Please provide a brief explanation of how your feature can help the broader community rather than just a few unique use cases. Rather than adding more tasks to my plate, the best way to contribute is to relieve some of my workload.
Nonetheless. That’s right. In the short term, we might not be able to hide any uncertainty. However, in the case of the torrent, I believe the decision was right. The added difficulty and favor for geeks was not worth a much more straightforward download connection that anyone could use.
The dilemma is that, as a group maintainer, what pushes you forward moves the community forward. I accept that walking the discrepancy is not black and white. And the other way around.
rTorrent is a fast and powerful BitTorrent client that uses the libTorrent (not to be confused with libtorrent-rasterbar) library and is being developed alongside it. It’s written in C++ and uses the ncurses programming library to provide a terminal-based user interface. It becomes a simple remote BitTorrent client when paired with a terminal multiplexer (e.g. GNU Screen or Tmux) and Secure Shell.
Reason: This portion, as well as others that use config/XMLRPC commands, should be refactored to “fresh syntax.” For more details, see this rTorrent wiki page, which includes a sed script. (Discussion can be found at Talk:RTorrent#)
Copy the sample configuration file /usr/share/doc/rtorrent/rtorrent.rc to /.rtorrent.rc before running rTorrent, and look at the relevant rTorrent wiki page for a modern simple configuration file.
The schedule2 choice instructs rTorrent to keep an eye on a certain directory for new torrent files. When you save a torrent file to this directory, the download will begin automatically. Remember to make the watch directory (mkdir /watch, for example). Also, be aware that rTorrent will transfer the torrent file to your session folder and rename it to its hash value if you use this option.
