Galaxy s5: how to disable & enable mobile data— 3g, 4g

My S5 is now so sluggish that I want to chuck it out the window. It gets incredibly hot, as if the update was too much for it. My customized settings have vanished, and I no longer have access to any of them because they are no longer available as options! Have you ever heard the phrase “if it ain’t broke, don’t repair it”?
I downloaded my Galaxy S5 yesterday and had some of the same issues as others: no cellular data (couldn’t make/receive calls or texts), inability to access the internet (“check internet connection”), and so on. I discovered that the update had deleted my APN settings after some searching (Access Point Names settings). I use Consumer Cellular, so I was able to figure out how to reset my APN settings for their network on their website. I was able to reconnect to their network after resetting the APN settings. I’m not sure if this would work for everyone, but you may want to double-check your APN settings.
I eventually updated my phone because I was sick of it prompting me to do so every time I turned it on. As I attach my phone to my machine to download my photos, all of the files have vanished. What the hell is going on here? I can’t get my images, and I’ve lost my visual link to voice mail, to name a few issues. How do I reclaim the files that belong on the device? I’m searching for my photos!

Until yesterday, my rooted Samsung S5 had performed flawlessly for three years. It now links to my router, but not to my server (internet). The same router connects all of my other android devices to the internet without a hitch.
5. If you’re still having problems and you’re certain it’s not the modem/router, move on to the next step. Then you might want to give the system a “Hard Reset.” However, I strongly advise you to save this as a last resort (or as a last resort before parts repair/replacement).
4. To get to the “wipe data/factory reset” option, click the “Volume Down” button. The “Volume Up” and “Volume Down” buttons in recovery mode are used to navigate and highlight which options you need.
