a number is blocked Are you tired of receiving unwelcome phone calls from obnoxious telemarketers or your obstinate ex? When it comes to stopping people from calling you on a Samsung Galaxy S4, you have a lot of choices. You can block individual and groups of numbers to your heart’s content, ranging from unknown numbers to those that begin with unique area codes. Here’s how to do it. Cherlynn Low (@cherlynnlow) Simply repeat steps 4–6 to block further numbers. If you like, you can even reject numbers from whole cities. Simply enter the region’s area code in Step 5, then select Starts With from the Match Criteria drop-down menu below the number field. This feature works for US numbers whether or not you add a “+1” before the area code. From your contacts tab or call logs, you can also add numbers to your reject list. Select Add To Reject List after long-pressing the amount you want to block. You can block up to 100 numbers, and those marked as “Starts With” are counted as one number. When the irritant wants to contact you, they will hear one ring followed by a disconnection tone. The call will not be shown on your computer, but blocked calls will appear in your call logs, showing that your S4 is working hard to keep irritants at bay. To indicate that it was refused, a blocked symbol appears below the number.

When long pressing a text message in the stock Messaging app, an insider asked why he couldn’t find the “forward” option. He only had the ability to delete and copy text. When we are in easy mode, the text message forwarding feature, as far as I know, is not available. Since it is intended for first-time smartphone users, the easy mode has a simplified interface and disables certain advanced features (including the text message forwarding feature). If you want to be able to forward text messages, you must disable easy mode and use regular mode.
Kelly, an insider, told me via email two days ago that she tried blocking messages by following my instructions here on how to block unwanted text messages, but she couldn’t find the spam settings in her stock Messaging app. Her phone apparently runs Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, while that post was written using my Samsung Galaxy S4 running Android 4.3 Jelly Bean. When this phone is upgraded to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat, the configuration menu for the stock Messaging app changes, but not when it is updated to Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. So, if you’ve upgraded your Samsung Galaxy S4 to Android 4.4.2 Kitkat or Android 5.0.1 Lollipop and want to block text messages, this post is for you.

I assume that the majority of phone users have chosen text messaging as one of their preferred methods of communication. That’s why it’s no surprise that most modern smartphones—including the Samsung Galaxy SIV—include the stock Messaging app for their users, making it easier for them to send or receive messages without having to install the app first.
Aside from sending and receiving messages, the stock Messaging software also allows you to block text messages from specific contacts that meet the requirements you’ve set previously, as well as block text messages that include such phrases and senders you’ve never heard of. This will, of course, assist you in keeping your inbox free of unwanted or unknown text messages.

How to block calls on samsung galaxy s4
To block a number, go to messages and hold down a message from that number. If you keep your finger on it, a list will appear. Link to spam list by clicking the button. If they text you again, the number will ignore your messages. Does the job for me. The problem is that I have no idea where my spam phone numbers are, so I can’t let anyone back in.
Hmm… I have a Galaxy 4S mini (Android 4.2.2) and when I open a text from a sender I want to block, there is no choice to “Add to spam numbers” under the menu key…
Only the following options are open to me:
Selecting the “Config” option from here brings up a list of options, but none of them refer to spam or blocking (or something similar):
I have a caller reject list, but that’s it. Any suggestions why I don’t have any spam text blocking options? Any details will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much!
My S4 is owned by my partner. I have an iPhone 4s, and text messages from me to her are no longer being sent, despite the fact that I am receiving messages from her. I can message and call my friends without issue, but this one has stumped me… I’d appreciate it if anyone could assist me. johnny
