Installing applications remotely – batchpatch tutorial

Is it possible to patch FireFox, or do you have to install a new build of the most recent version? Is it necessary to repackage the application if a new build needs to be deployed, or can it be deployed as is?
Mozilla tends to only release Firefox as an EXE rather than an MSI. There is a spot where you can download it as an MSI, but it is a few versions behind. We have about 100 users in our environment who are using Firefox (everyone else is using IE), and they need to be patched. If we have to repackage every version into an MSI, it’ll be a pain (since they do not offer patches). What standard tools are you referring to?
It depends on whether or not the app is patched. A patch is what I’d call it if users have rights and download the daily updates. But, because you seem like a smart guy who wouldn’t offer your users such privileges, you’ll have to uninstall the old version and then install the new unless you *want* to make an MSI (and subsequent patches). That isn’t a big deal: FF isn’t a big business.

Despite the fact that Pinnacle was not visible in my task manager at the time, it was still working. I thought it was just a glitch, so I uninstalled Pinnacle and haven’t had any problems or warnings since.
When downloading 3rd-party software, pay careful attention.
When downloading software from the Internet, it’s important to read the license agreements and download screens carefully. It’s a good idea to choose Custom or Advanced installation options if an installation screen provides them since they normally show what other 3rd party apps would be mounted.
Keep your device and apps up to date. To patch vulnerabilities, many programs issue security updates on a regular basis. Keeping the software up to date stops attackers from exploiting it to spread malware.
