Discord bot tutorial 2.0 | setting up the environment [1

There is a lot of discord. Every IRC group I used to be a part of has made the switch, even if it was just a year ago. It’s simply more convenient for all involved—the only holdouts are those who want to keep their CLIs and those who object for ideological purposes. I’m sorry it’s come to this, but IRC has been stagnant for far too long. The entry barrier is too strong, using it on mobile devices is a pain, the feature set is severely restricted, and so on. Discord would not have had such a vulnerable market to swoop in and snare if IRCv3 had been able to get off the ground and make some progress toward building a modern user interface two years ago. Discord offers seamless cloud message monitoring, mobile alerts, intuitive clients, a large ecosystem of easy-to-use bots, and seamless integration with games that requires no setup. For the sake of convenience, many non-gaming societies have switched to it.
Engineers may have been interested in how openly most IRC clients revealed the protocol, but I believe that IRC was accepted rather than adopted by the overwhelming majority of users.
I don’t believe Discord deserves any of the credit; I believe it began with the acceptance of Slack within developer groups and open source projects. Discord attracted gamers, while Slack attracted developers (at least at first).

If NC wants to self-host something, the Mattermost team edition is perfect. But, in my opinion, a simple bridge bot like Matterbridge would make it easier to connect IRC with a Discord channel. It’s really easy to set up.
Although the main node may have the most users, there are multiple Matrix servers. Also, if the main node goes down, the operation of those other servers (each with its own identity server) should not be affected, allowing the network to be called federated.
I still have a BNC on Freenode IRC, but it is much less active than it was 7 years ago. There’s nothing wrong with simple IRC if the target is “full compatibility” and an open chat that no one wants to use.

How to connect your mirc bot to your chat (mirc bot ep. 1

Discord is a community-building tool that incorporates VoIP, instant messaging, and digital delivery. Users connect in private chats or as part of “servers” with voice calls, video calls, text messages, media, and files. [footnote 1] Servers are a list of chat rooms and voice chat channels that remain active over time. Windows, macOS, Android, iOS, iPadOS, Linux, and web browsers all support Discord. The app has over 250 million users as of July 21, 2019[update]. [nine]
Jason Citron, the founder of OpenFeint, a social gaming site for mobile games, came up with the idea for Discord. He sold OpenFeint to GREE for US$104 million in 2011,[10] and used the proceeds to launch Hammer & Chisel, a game development company, in 2012. [nine] Fates Forever, Citron’s first product, was released in 2014 and was advertised as the first MOBA game for mobile platforms, but it was not a commercial success. (12)
Citron claims that he found how difficult it was for his team to work out tactics in games like Final Fantasy XIV and League of Legends using accessible voice over IP (VoIP) tools during the development phase. As a result, developers created a chat service that prioritized user friendliness while minimizing performance effects. (12)

The Sims Wiki has two IRC (Internet Relay Chat) channels where users can talk to each other in real time over the Internet. Almost any subject can be addressed in the channels as long as it isn’t too offensive.
An IRC contact, a trusted member of the group chosen to manage channel affairs and provide a link between the wiki and the channels, is in charge of managing the channels. K6ka is the latest IRC touch.
For IRC channels, there is a set of rules. In a nutshell, use common sense and treat people the way you want to be treated; this will help keep drama and dispute to a minimum and maintain a pleasant environment among users. If you happen to see something you shouldn’t, please send a private message to an operator.
You should ask a channel operator, or “chanop,” if you’re having problems with a user or something else on IRC. More information about chanops can be found here, as well as a submission for these privileges. Channel operators, in short, are similar to “moderators” in every other public chat room, and each IRC channel has its own set of channel operators. Further down this page is a list of channel operators for each channel.
