Dell, on the other hand, has a killer trick up its sleeve when it comes to battery life: An external battery costs $100 (AU$180, £110) and plugs directly into the laptop’s USB-C port to keep it working. This USB-C external battery will charge the Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 from fully charged to 80% charged.
I’m at a loss for words to express how much I love this battery. It not only charged these Dell laptops to 80% of their maximum capacity (an extra 3-4 hours of use), but it also has enough amperage to completely drain a laptop, plug it into this charger, and start working immediately. With a single power cable, you can also charge the laptop and the external battery at the same time. When the battery isn’t charging a laptop, it can charge two tablets or phones through its two USB ports. (You might save money by using a third-party USB-C battery, but I didn’t test that.)
Other considerationsThere are a few other details about the Dell Inspiron 7000 2-in-1 that you should be aware of, even though they don’t affect my recommendation in any way.

Before any practical current flows, USB-C needs some intelligent negotiation.
I, on the other hand, do not see the point. You may as well stick with the stock coax power supply unless you can slow charge the battery overnight via USB-C with the same wall wart that powers your phone or tablet. Also, I’m not sure whether a laptop can charge via USB-C if it’s switched off, but it can charge via the coax jack.

In terms of the balloon tip, I’ve seen those not update instantly or at all before, so if your device charges, it’ll be a cosmetic issue at worst, and probably just intermittently.
If that’s the case, you may want to look into the Anker chargers I listed earlier as alternatives. Ideally, you’d like to match or surpass the wattage offered by the AC adapter that came with your system, but most systems will consider at least one step down from that and simply charge more slowly and Probably throttle output — but if you’re only using this as a travel charger, that might be fine.

The laptop came with a 65 watt charger, but I was looking at USB C chargers from another company that had excellent feedback. Thank you so much! I’ve used and trusted ravpower and anker portable batteries and wires before, so I’m glad ravpower has what I’m looking for. I’m going to get a USB c to USB c charger regardless of which one I get. I find one that charges at 100 watts per second for just $13. However, you are right that USB c is the way of the future, so I’ll look at the size gap. In addition, the extra wattage may be useful in future laptops. Thank you so much!

If that amount is in US dollars, I’d be very wary of that unit, as chargers with that sort of performance are still uncommon today and usually cost $40-60 in the US. Aukey, for example, has a GaN-based Omnia 100W charger that costs $55 in the United States as of this writing. (I’m waiting for their Omnia dual port 100W adapter, which will have a 100W maximum output but be more useful if I ever need to charge two lower-powered devices at the same time.) Make sure your charger is both UL and USB-IF certified if at all necessary. The last thing you want is to purchase a low-cost USB-C power source that breaks the costly electronics you want to use it with, or worse, causes a fire hazard.

You most definitely would not. But, because I couldn’t find any details about USB-C charging in your laptop’s manual, you won’t have any faith unless you ask Dell help or try it out. However, here’s how I arrived at my conclusion:
Initially, if your laptop could be charged via USB type C, it would almost certainly be specified in the manual. However, when searching the manual for “USB C,” the only two results reference USB C for data transfers.
The USB type C Power Delivery specification is then used to charge via USB type C. The maximum power that can be supplied over USB type C is 100 Watts, according to that standard (5 Ampere at 20 Volts). Your laptop’s power supply produces 180 Watts, which is much more than that. In terms of your laptop’s hardware, this is not shocking. As a result, you won’t be able to charge your laptop when using it via USB type C. While it’s possible to charge your laptop while it’s turned off via USB type C, the manufacturer probably didn’t include this feature: Manufacturers prefer to leave this feature out, except for the shut-down mode, if you can’t charge your laptop using USB type C while it’s in use.
