The WRT1900ACS v2 from Linksys has a really nice function. There are two boot sectors on it. This complicates DD-WRT upgrades and downgrades (at least if you want to keep the stock firmware in one sector), but it allows reverting to stock quite simple.
Bear in mind that if you don’t use the option below to upgrade or uninstall DD-WRT after it’s initial installation, you’ll end up with DD-WRT in both boot sectors (one with the original DD-WRT version and the other with the upgraded/downgraded version).
You can now update or downgrade your DD-WRT version assuming you have already installed DD-WRT as defined in the install section here. Get your preferred version from the DD-WRT ftp region. Please note that the ddwrt-linksys-wrt1900acsv2-webflash.bin image must be selected (the factory-to-ddwrt.bin image is only used to install DD-WRT from stock).
I’m having trouble connecting AC1900 to my Nighthawk R7800. Right, I believe Openwrt is even easier to set up because nandwrite and erase flash are either pre-installed or available as an opkg kit. 2. Looking for a Wi-Fi router that does everything? Change the TX power only if necessary. This is the first eSATA-compatible router I’ve used. I’m not sure why. The remote management feature worked well in my trial, both through a browser and through the mobile app. Also conducting a survey can sometimes cause the router to freeze. Run the following command to see a list of LEDs: NOTE: Mamba is the codename for the 1900AC v1, while cobra is the codename for the 1900AC v2. Backup the NVRAM ahead of time in case anything goes wrong and you need to restore your settings. The Linksys WRT1900ACS is an excellent wireless router, and one of its best qualities is that it is compatible with a variety of open source firmwares, including dd-wrt. So, if you’re like me and want to use the OpenSource router firmware to activate all of the router’s power rather than the restricted factory firmware, read this guide to learn how to do it. It’s not a complicated process, but I ran into a few issues while upgrading the firmware on my router, so I’ve included all of the solutions in this guide. I’m hoping they will assist you as well.
DISCLAIMER: If you use a non-official firmware like dd-wrt to upgrade your router, you run the risk of bricking it. You’re doing it at your own risk. You are solely responsible for anything you do, and I will not be held liable for everything that goes wrong when attempting to install dd-wrt on it, like bricking your router.
Since firmwares are not compatible between hardware versions, you must first check your Linksys WRT1900ACS router version (v1 or v2) before continuing. The hardware version is called version, ver., or V and is placed beside or underneath the model number. If your Linksys product does not have a version number beside the model number, it is version 1. If you’re still having trouble locating your version number, visit the Linksys Official Support site for more information.
In the end, I want my dd-wrt router to provide vpn access (via StrongVPN) to all devices connected to it. Others can bind to my carrier’s vdsl router/wifi without having a VPN. 192.168.1.1 is the IP address of my main router.
I then successfully flashed it with r35531. It prompted me to change my key username and password, as well as encouraging me to change my wifi settings (only changed the name and password, left them as AP-mode). The IP address (and dhcp) of the local lan ports/wifi may be modified. Without interfering with the main router, I tried 192.168.1.x/24. I tried 192.168.2.1/24, 192.168.2.1/24, and so on…
2. In my Vodafone (Huawei) router, I set (a) reserved.230 and (b).230 as a “exposed host,” while keeping the sd-wrt as a gateway (router didn’t work). That fixed my internet routing issue.
Then there was the problem of getting the StrongVPN account to work – I tried a lot of different things, but in the end, the people from SteingVPN were able to assist me. They have a dd-wrt router-specific installer (one command line) that runs a script and populates the Services VPN OpenVPN fields with all of the necessary information. They were unaware of one trick: it does not immediately Save, Apply, and reboot. You’ll have to do it manually.
