Dd wrt archer c7 v2
I’m glad I upgraded my archer-c7 v5 to the new dd-wrt beta :D. Despite the fact that my WAN-facing computer runs OPNSense. I’d rather run Tomato, but Archer c7 isn’t a Broadcom device 🙁 Can anyone give me any advice on dd-wrt vs openwrt? (considering trying openwrt).
The latest version of OpenWRT (19), which is built on a nearly mainline, modern Linux kernel and a brand new system-tree for the Atheros SoC, performs notably better on this device, with better HW offloading support and a brand new device-tree for the Atheros SoC.
What are your reasons for staying on dd-wrt? > What are your reasons for staying on dd-wrt?
Mostly because I’ve already used it. Is it possible to gui-flash from dd-wrt to openwrt? I’ve done tftp flashes before, but having the stupid 30-30-30 or whatever timing right is a pain. Also, I believe these routers attempt to “pull” from a tftp server rather than making you push to one that they bootstrap – the “pull” version has never worked for me. It would be a lot simpler if I could boot the router into something like Android’s (arm’s?) fastboot or flashmode mode and just push a picture.
BlackMark @BlackMark So simple flashing with the.bin didn’t work the first time. “Please pick a file to update!” says the router simply in the window. Also, I’m not interested in the file. I’m trying to figure out how tftp works. I recall having done the same thing with another TP Router that had been hacked. But it makes me happy that 5Ghz seems to be working now. Previously, about 3 years ago, there were some problems, and the throughput was slightly lower when it was eventually put to the test.
Is Archer C7 v2 a good fit for Gargoyle? I’m just asking because using DD-WRT on the computer, I’m having trouble with 5GHz wifi. Do you think Gargoyle would be a safer WiFi solution? I’m currently running the most recent EU stock firmware.
“fredzombie” has an older TP-link firmware page that can be used to revert. It removes the bootloader they’re using. You can then update to the most current Tp-link firmware after using the stripped firmware.
The only time I had issues with the C7 and Gargoyle was when I expanded bandwidth. It worked well at 100/10 speed, but if you use QoS, the router’s CPU isn’t powerful enough to provide maximum speeds. Gargoyle couldn’t accommodate Spectrum’s 400/20 pace on the C7, and topped out at about 200-250 down (if I recall correctly), even without QoS. To use hardware NAT, I had to return to the factory firmware.
There is an alert about installing Gargoyle specifically for this model in the ”Downloads” section. It does, however, state that the issues are limited to the 1.09 edition (current). However, it appears that the latest version is 1.10. So, the bugs in the most recent version (1.10, not 1.09) have been fixed?
Prior to flashing an Archer c7 V2 with LEDE, Open-WRT, or DD-WRT, you must first allow recobery mode inside the system. If you attempt to flash without first entering recovery mode, you will receive an error message that says “Unable to Install- Firmware is not Signed” or “Not Signed Firmware cannot be flashed.” Anything along those lines. -https://mikepalmer.net/tp-link-archer-c7-ac1750-v2-tftp-recovery/ https://tftpd64.codeplex.com/tftpd64/tftpd64/tftpd Software from the LEDE Project: https://lede-project.org/toh/views/toh fwdownload?dataflt% 5BBrand*% 7E% 5D=tp-link https://lede-project.org/docs/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx/ar71xx http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/hwdata/tp-link/tp-link archer c7 ac1750 Open-WRT program https://chaos calmer/15.05.1/ar71xx/generic/openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v1-squashfs-factory.bin https://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos calmer/15.05.1/ar71xx/generic/openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v1-squashfs openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin https://downloads.openwrt.org/chaos calmer/15.05.1/ar71xx/generic/openwrt-15.05.1-ar71xx-generic-archer-c7-v1-squashfs-sysupgrade.bin DD-WRT: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK Archer C7 v1.x DD-WRT: https://wikidevi.com/wiki/TP-LINK Archer C7 v1.x TP Link Archer C7 https://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php?title=TP Link Archer C7 https://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer-c5-c7-wdr7500#tftp recovery de-bricking http://wiki.openwrt.org/toh/tp-link/archer-c5-c7-wdr7500#tftp recovery de-bricking
