Consider the weather forecaster on television. They’re literally standing in front of a huge blank green screen, with fancy green screen technology projecting weather images into the scene. This technology is now available on our smartphones. It’s incredible!
What is the mechanism behind it? You may use a green screen app to erase the green background and replace it with a new background picture after taking a photo or video of someone against a green background. And the individual will appear to be standing in front of a different backdrop.
For instance, in the photo above, I used an image of the northern lights as the background and photographed my little critters against a colorful construction paper backdrop. After that, I used DoInk (a green screen app) to layer the critters on top of the background and then remove the color of the construction paper. Finally, they seem to be sitting in the cold, watching the northern lights.
Applications: Encourage students to make book-talks using the book cover as a backdrop. When it comes to historical reenactments, the crossing of the Delaware by Washington still comes to mind. With the landmark in the background, students explore historic landmarks from around the world. News from around the globe, or the cosmos, as recorded by students. Maybe a study from Pluto’s downgraded status?

Crazy ways to use green screen in videos!

Hi, everybody! I do a lot of green screen work and also use shots of different people talking in front of a green screen. I’ve been given the challenge of coming up with new ways to cut between shots that don’t involve jumping from person to person. I’ve used slides, flashes, and other more flashy animated transitions, but I’m at a loss about what to do next. Do you have any interesting ideas for switching between shots without cutting directly from person to person if you use a lot of green screen footage? I hope that made sense, and I appreciate any suggestions you might have! Upvoted 81 percent of 12 commentssharesavehidereport This discussion has been ended.
