Internet dropping out solved!! issue with online gaming
The issue has existed for some time, but I must address it. Ping spikes to 400ms from time to time (30 seconds to 3 minutes, depending on the time of day) and then returns to normal (around 20ms), which is poor when playing online. Turning off wi-fi in other connected devices has no impact. The TP-Link TL-MR3420 is used to connect the computer to the internet.
The issue is with your ISP’s link. I see T-mobile mentioned in some of this, so what kind of link is this? If you’re using a mobile broadband link and you don’t have very good signals or you’re on a congested cell tower, these types of spikes are fairly common.
Is this limited to a single device? Second, try the easiest things: Check to see if there are any operating system changes that need to be installed. If that doesn’t work, try typing “Ipconfig /flushdns” into the Command Prompt and restarting the machine. Check to see if anything has changed.
There isn’t a telephone link. I have a nearby internet provider who, uhm… offers wireless access. The signal from transmitters is received by a router connected to an antenna on the roof of the tower. They’re both less than a kilometer from my house, as seen on the Pingplotter map.

Hello there. I recently purchased the Orbi RBK50 device and set it up in my home. All appears to be in order, and I am receiving 200-300 Mbps in my basement, where my satellite is mounted. I tried playing PS4 games over WiFi and experienced frequent lag spikes during the session. So I change it up and hardwire my satellite link, but I still get the same results. Recently, Charter/Specturm provided me with a default router that outperformed the Orbi. While playing online, I encountered no lag spikes. Could anyone kindly assist me in resolving my PS4 link issues? Otherwise, I’ll have to return this item to the store. Thank you.

I’m on my second day with the router, and I’ve noticed some minor delays when streaming PlayStation Vue on my Amazon Fire TV. The gap between my Fire TV and my base unit is about 5 feet. As I was checking other improvements yesterday, I also found that I couldn’t hard reset my router.

In order to have a genuine and relaxed online experience playing Street Fighter 5: Champion Edition, I’ve gone through a series of equipment improvements and mental shifts. After doing nearly everything in my power to accomplish what seemed like a pipe dream, the final frontier was to turn from Frontier to Charter Spectrum as my internet service provider (ISP).
That’s right, I switched from fiber to cable internet, and you may be surprised to learn that my online experience has actually improved. Normally, I’d be as surprised as you are right now, but considering what I’ve learned and seen with my previous ISP, an upgrade was a foregone conclusion.
Before I go any further, let me state unequivocally that I enjoy playing Street Fighter 5. My only problem with the game was that I couldn’t play online without being ruined by lag, but aside from that, I’m a massive fan of it — so yeah, I went through a lot of trouble to get this going.
Qos setup for gaming
When my Charter internet works, it’s fantastic. But for the next month and a half, I’ll be playing a game, normally CS:GO because it’s most visible in this game, and my ping will range from 18-60 to 90+. And I’m unable to move, fire, or do something else. This happens every time I play a game. RO2 locks me in place, GW2 boots me off the servers, and so on. Online games are no longer playable. Even when I’m just browsing the internet, the lag exists. Pages will take a long time to load, and then my internet will return to normal.
I called Charter, and they sent a technician over this morning to set up a new modem for me, as I had just purchased a new router and figured that was the issue. The technician checked the cable and said it was fine (perhaps he didn’t test it at the right time?) and that the new modem could solve the problem. But no luck; the problem persists. This happens to our phone and everyone else who uses the internet, so it can’t be my ethernet cable or device. To be sure, I also re-installed Windows.
