I disabled all of my Avast! shields about two weeks ago so that I could run an OTL scan because I was having computer problems. I allowed them after finishing the scan, but I just found they’re still disabled today. I tried to activate them again, but it didn’t work no matter how many times I tried.

I don’t see any way to test disabling one shield at a time in the UI to see which one is causing the big lag. The shields used to appear, but they no longer do. I’d have to restart every time, which is inconvenient and ineffective for me. I can’t stand the sluggishness. I need to figure out who is to blame. I turned them all off and was a happy surfer, but I kept getting the message that I wasn’t safe. WHY do I need those shields, and why do they take so long to activate? Others will say that their systems do not slow down, but I am not one of them; my system is unique, and pages will continue to load indefinitely.
