For the campus population, Postal Services receives, sorts, handles, stores, and distributes mail and courier parcels. A contract station post office, FedEx ship center, and mail delivery center are among the facilities provided. Bulk mail, non-profit indicia, postage dues, and company replies are all managed by us. Please contact us before designing any mail pieces to ensure that your mailing complies with postal and printing regulations and to see whether you qualify for bulk or non-profit discounts.
For time-sensitive documents and parcels that require traceability and overnight delivery, Mail Services operates a FedEx ship center. Because of our high annual volume, we can give our customers reduced shipping rates (10-30 percent off published rates). Your mailing (under 50 lbs.) can be picked up by our mail clerks at your department’s mail stop. The overnight express deadline is 3:00 p.m.
Expect a potential delay for any incoming 1st class or higher classification mail (priority, express overnight) with inadequate addressing information, as the mail or package must be manually looked up in the campus directory for proper routing (for security and safety reasons). Lower-class mail that lacks full address information, such as the mail code (MC # or MSC #) and/or the agency name (standard, bulk, non-profit, etc.), will be discarded or recycled.

Caltech, or the California Institute of Technology, is a private research university in Pasadena, California. The university is well-known for its strengths in science and engineering, and it is one of only a few institutes of technology in the United States dedicated exclusively to the teaching of pure and applied sciences.
Caltech was established in 1891 as a preparatory and vocational school by Amos G. Throop, and in the early twentieth century, it began to attract prominent scientists such as George Ellery Hale, Arthur Amos Noyes, and Robert Andrews Millikan. In 1910, the technical and preparatory schools were dissolved and spun off, and the college was renamed in 1920. Caltech was admitted to the Association of American Universities in 1934, and Theodore von Kármán founded the precursors of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which Caltech continues to manage and run. Caltech has six academic divisions with a heavy focus on science and engineering, with funded research totaling $332 million in 2011.
[nine] Its 124-acre (50-hectare) main campus is about 11 miles (18 kilometers) northeast of downtown Los Angeles. Caltech requires first-year students to live on campus, and 95 percent of undergraduates stay in the on-campus House System. Despite the fact that Caltech has a long history of practical jokes and pranks,[11] student life is regulated by an honor code that allows professors to assign take-home exams. In the NCAA Division III’s Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, the Caltech Beavers participate in 13 intercollegiate sports (SCIAC).
