The control of the built environment in the United States is a one-of-a-kind experience. Many that have not been directly involved in the process sometimes find it perplexing. Even those who work in the industry may only be aware of a portion of the process that relates to their location or discipline. State-by-state, and occasionally even county-by-county, variations in codes and adoption procedures occur.
1. Get a sense of the big picture.
