PGP is a tried-and-true method of encrypting email messages from beginning to end (which prevents emails from being read by any third parties, including the email provider). PGP has always been difficult to use, and most users were unable to set it up and use it on a daily basis.
PGP produces a key pair consisting of a public key and a private key. The public key can be given to anybody who wants to send you a letter, and it’s used to encrypt a message that only you can decrypt. The decryption key is kept secret and is used to decrypt the data.
PGP can generate digital signatures in addition to encryption. Signatures, which are made using your private key, serve as evidence that you wrote the message you signed. Other users can validate these signatures using the public keys.
If your contact is digitally signing their messages, you should see a check mark next to their email address in messages you receive from them, indicating that the signature has been correctly checked.

We’ve all experienced arriving in a foreign country and being utterly perplexed by the subtly different ways things operate. Also basic tasks like writing a letter can be challenging, from supermarkets to public transportation.
Although Deutsche Post was privatized in 1995, it remains Germany’s most widely used letter-delivery service. You can either go to the post office or purchase stamps from kiosks if you want to send a message (which often have a Deutsche Post or DHL sticker or flag in the window). You may also purchase stamps online, print them, and then mail your message. Here you can find the address of your nearest postbox or post office.
A postcard costs €0.45, a regular letter costs €0.70 (max 20g, measurements 23.5 x 12.5 x 0.5), and then prices vary depending on the size and weight of the letter (the maximum weight is one kilogram).
You may also use your cell phone to send a postcard or a regular letter; you send a text and then receive a code to write on your envelope. This is more costly (a postcard costs €0.85 and a regular letter costs €1.15), but it is convenient if you are on the go.

By design, the email infrastructure that everyone uses is not stable. Although most people use a safe (“SSL”) link to their email servers, some servers allow unsecured access. Furthermore, the links between each server are not always secure as the message passes along its transmission path from sender to receiver. Third parties may be able to intercept, read, and change email messages as they are sent.
When you digitally sign a note, you include details that verifies your identity in the message. When you encrypt a letter, it appears to be “scrambled” and can only be read by someone who knows how to decode it. When a message is digitally signed, it means that it came from the specified source. Encryption guarantees that the message is not read or tampered with when in transit.

You can send these safely without having to send a passphrase if you use GPG. You can encrypt the file so that only the recipient has access to it if they have their own GPG key. gpg -e -r E9053BDA, for example. Without either of us ever exchanging a passphrase, thefile.zip will only allow me to open it with my GPG key. gpg-zip -e -r E9053BDA is another choice. In one command, *.crt will zip and encrypt all *.crt data.
What form you use is entirely dependent on your requirements and possible eavesdroppers. If governmental organizations and secret agencies are potential attackers, most of those methods will be compromised from the start: neither phone nor snail mail, and probably others, will be safe.
If you simply want to communicate with another person, all parties should create their own key pairs and distribute the public key while keeping the private key private. You must always exchange public key information, such as the fingerprint, through a pre-established, trusted channel, as mentioned above.
