Included is an attachment. Is there anything I’m missing, or did this just vanish? Why were modifications to the scan menus made without a version upgrade? It had all of a sudden shifted from what it had been the day before. W7 Home Premium SP1 is the free version I’m using.
Thank you for getting back to me.
Is the virus scan with smart scan the same as the fast scan? I thought they were because the smart scan takes seconds to complete, but the fast scan takes several minutes each time.
I suppose once they patch the settings importing, which has been broken for a year, I’ll be able to create a custom config with Smart Scan parameters that are similar to Fast Scan, so it’ll at least be useful…

I concur with David. I believe that running a virus scan on a daily or manual basis is no longer necessary. It would be a Full Scan if I did one, but just once in a blue moon or if I suspected something was wrong. Smart Scan used to be a nice and fast one-stop-shop scan, but it has recently been tainted by unnecessary paid product peddling.

I still think it’s a good fast scan, but as I mention in the video, if you’re using the free version, just ignore any findings that pertain to paid sections of the product.

Both antivirus products will be put to the test in this study, which will include my own malware detection and security testing as well as independent analysis from leading independent antivirus laboratories. I’ll look at the products not just for how good they are at removing risks, but also for other factors including accuracy and how much scanning slows down your computer.

I’ll send you my verdict on each program’s malware defense, ease of use, value for money, and additional security features after I’ve conducted testing and reviewed the available research.
