Good day, everybody! I attempted to run a machine scan, but it remained at 0% for 30 minutes before moving to 1%. I have no idea what’s causing this. However, it has previously performed well. I attempted to use the repair feature, but it was ineffective. Smart Scan, on the other hand, works well. I ran a Malwarebytes search, and there were no viruses detected. Is there someone who can assist me? See below for an update.
I did a reinstall, then a quick scan, and the result was the same. It’s interesting that the smart scan works perfectly, but the quick scan seems to go on forever. Additionally, when I left my full scan running until it hit 30 minutes, it only did 1%. It claimed to have scanned 498GB of data, but there isn’t even that much! EDIT: I gave the Fast Scan a lot more time, and it seems to have jumped even further; maybe I was just being impatient, but I don’t remember it taking this long. Thank you all for your suggestions. It seems to be working now.

Could you suggest what needs to be done to speed this up? I’m having the same problem on several PCs at my institute, SourceKode[www.sourcekode.in]. Is it a hardware problem, or is it something else?
Hello, DavidRYes When I installed version 17.1.2286, I did a fresh install. Since the scan speed hasn’t improved, I’ve only done updates via the GUI for the last two updates. I’ve done a total of eight scans, but they don’t seem to increase scan speed.
Examine your scan options:
1. Check the box next to’store data about scanned files in the persistent cache’ in the Performance column. That isn’t allowed by design, I believe. It’s fine to have the ‘Speed up scanning by using the persistent cache’ option available, but what happens when the other options aren’t selected? If not allowed, the file access option is enabled by default in the same section. 2. I have the Links – ‘follow links during scan’ option disabled in the Sensitivity section. Also with those switched on or off, it takes a few scans to make a difference.

This ‘Speed up scanning by using the persistent cache’ was tested by default for a long time, but the “Store data about scanned files in the persistent cache” was unchecked. I had to double-check this item a while ago (the Smart Scan doesn’t appear to have any settings icon, unlike the Full and Fast scans). After a software update, I always double-check that it is enabled. I just reviewed the various scan settings, and it appears that some of them are still disabled by default. That completed the USB/DVD scan, folder scan, and boot-time scan. There may be an explanation for this, but I don’t understand why some things are tested and others aren’t.
