This model was released in 2012, so it’s built on some old technology, but I’m guessing the model they offer now isn’t the same exact model that was released in 2012. I’m aware that it lacks AC1200 speed and a slew of other features that I won’t use. In addition, my internet connection is fairly slow. I currently have a 20Mbps/2Mbps link and will never connect more than three devices at once. Even if I tripled my internet speeds in the next few years, the RT-N66U does 450Mbps per band, so I don’t think anyone can persuade me otherwise; correct me if I’m wrong.
I’m pleased with my RT-AC68U, but I wouldn’t buy an N-only router right now. I’d rather get anything like the newer TP-Link Archers in a similar price range than the N66U.
