Tech tip: how to setup a nas with tomato firmware router

You will not be disappointed if you use DD-WRT or Tomato as your favorite firmware. There are no significant functional variations between DD-WRT and Tomato firmware at this time. The design of each router’s graphic user interface (GUI) reveals the difference between DD-WRT and Tomato firmware.
The possibilities for network protection are virtually infinite when DD-WRT is pre-installed on a router. Users can easily incorporate their VPN service into their wireless router thanks to VPN support built into our devices.

Tomato firmware installation (shibby mod) on asus rt

Tomato by Shibby and AdvancedTomato are two involved groups that continue to work on Tomato firmware.

Which one is the best firmware for my wireless router

Both are fantastic, and both have dedicated developers working on them.
I recently upgraded my router, and it was difficult to find one that was both readily available and compatible with Tomato, as well as having the features I needed.
I decided to compile a list of all Tomato-compatible routers, their features, and the firmwares that they support.
This seemed like a decent resource for those looking for a Tomato router.
The features of all of these routers are very similar, and many of the older models are no longer available.
Shibby is compatible with a wide range of routers.
A word of caution: all of these routers have different hardware models, and some of them may not work with identical Tomato builds.
Make sure you double-check the build compatibility before you buy!
A new mid-range router with dual band coverage, a fast processor, and Gigabit LAN ports piqued my interest.
When using the router for VPN tunneling, a fast processor is beneficial since the processor is often the traffic bottleneck.
The Asus RT-AC68U was my option, but any of a number of routers will suffice.

All about tomato firmware on the asus rt-ac3200

Hi there,

How to install tomato firmware on an asus rt-ac68p router

I’ve been unsuccessful in setting up my latest vpn (PIA) via my router. The vpn comes with simple applications that works flawlessly on both my phone and machine. However, I’m worried that if I cast Kodi or other content to my Chromecast, the vpn would not protect me. Protecting the network seems like a no-brainer, but I haven’t been able to get Tomato or other security software to run on it. Is there someone who can point me in the right direction? Despite the fact that I’m sure it is, the router does not seem to be supported by anything. Also, there is an area where I can activate the VPN Server when I log into the router…would activating and filling out that section be all I need to do? For some reason, I got the impression that using the Asus firmware may not be enough. Thank you so much for your assistance. a total of 6 comments 67 percent upvoted by sharesavehidereport This discussion has been ended. There are no new comments or votes that can be made.
