In the example above, mail.recipient.com has given permission for mail.sender.com to send the message. Some mail servers will verify the name given by the connecting mail server before allowing the message to be transmitted in order to avoid spam. The following example is similar to the previous one, except that mail.sender.com would have a false name, causing mail.recipient.com to reject the letter.
Set the mail server’s Internet hostname (e.g. mail.domain.com) in Configuration > Domains > ‘Internet hostname’. This domain name must resolve to an Internet IP address, which is a numerical identifier for computers connected to a TCP/IP network. Kerio MailServer uses this for Internet correspondence.

Anyone sending email from Thunderbird in our office today will get a pop-up window saying “An error occurred when sending email: The mail server sent an incorrect greeting: 4.3.4 allocated resources exceeded” on occasion. It doesn’t happen every time you try to send a message; it happens every second or third time. We’ll try again, and most of the time it’ll succeed. It can take a few tries to get it to submit the first time.

Hi there,
My sister has two computers in the building, each with its own email account. Both are linked wirelessly via a Netgear router and a Motorola Surfboard modem. Thuderbird is used to access all email addresses. On both machines, the ability to send emails stopped functioning about a fortnight ago. Receiving letters, on the other hand, works well. When submitting a text, the following error appears: When sending mail, an error occurred: The greeting sent by the mail server was incorrect: nschwcmgw08p nschwcmgw08p nschwcmgw [OB105] BigPond Outbound The link was turned down. The Exploits Block List includes (ip:address) (XBL). For more details, go to http://www.spamhaus.org/xbl/…this one also came up once… When sending text, a (smtp) error occurred. Message denied, said the server. Smtp settings are similar to mine, with the exception of passwords, usernames, and other information. I’m guessing it’ll be a router problem, but before I start fiddling with that, I’d like to double-check. Thank you for your assistance.
